7 EASY WAYS TO STYLE OUTRE'S ANNIE HALF WIG

Hello beauties! Welcome back! I got my good friend Annie with me today and as always she is helping me #slay. I have made a review on this unit before and it is easily one of my all times absolutely most favorite wigs from Outre (you can check it out here).

This wig is so amazing for us naturals. I requires minimum maintenance and it's so versatile! So I decided to show you some simple ways that you can style Annie and look fabulous! This is also a great protective style (with minimum to no heat).

I thought I would bring you 7 easy and quick ways to style this gorgeous unit. Annie just blends perfectly with my natural hair and I had a lot of fun creating these hairstyles. I hope you enjoy them. And there is a little video at the end of the post with the tutorials.

THE HAIR ROCK | INDIAN TEMPLE BODY WAVE

I received this hair from The Hair Rock for a review. But the opinions shared are my own and honest.

I've been wearing this hair for the past 4 weeks and I definitely see a difference from what it felt and looked like initially.

Due to all of the shedding that I've experienced with it, the hair is definitely not as full as it was in the beginning. Though the amount of shedding stayed consistent it was usually by the hand full.

But if I'm just going to keep it real with you this hair is good for last minute things or when you have an event or special occasion coming up and you don't want to spend a ton of money on weave. As soon as I was done with this install I knew it wasn't going to stay looking the same later on. Don't get me wrong this hair was bomb throughout my birthday weekend. It was full and it was just giving me life.

Other key points that I should also share is that this remy hair held curls really well, and the curls would last all day. As I mentioned initially it was really full and I could probably still make the hair work but adding some additional tracks to my u-part unit.
The packaging said that it could be colored but I chose to keep the natural color so it would last longer.

Overall this hair was decent for the price. It might not last for months but it if you are looking for an affordable in between hairstyle this would be great. This was also great as a protective styling for me because I didn't do much to my actual hair besides straighten my leave out a couple of times.

MY HAIR DNA | NATURAL HAIR PRODUCT REVIEW

I recently came home to a little surprise from my mail man. A box full of goodies from My DNA Curls. I was super excited to try their products. I'll be honest I hadn't heard of them before, and it's probably due to the fact that I don't do much venturing when it comes to hair products (though I plan on doing it more this coming year).

The package included their Sulfate Free Shampoo, Detangling Conditioner and Moisturizing Hair Butter. So I thought I would do a little review on it, because maybe there are other people like me who have either not heard of the brand or would like to know a little bit more about the products before making a purchase.

I tried the Sulfate Free Shampoo first. Now I'm not one of the naturals that separates their hair and shampoos each section. I literately just get in the shower and I wash my hair (say what you may, but I do not have time for all of that or the patience to be honest). The shampoo did not strip my hair. My natural hair felt clean but not squeaky clean. It didn't tangle my hair either, and that's a big plus.

I followed the shampoo by using the Detangling Conditioner. It didn't give me a lot of slip for detangling. I have super thick hair and it can be a challenge to detangle. So I didn't think this conditioner was amazing. It was ok. It added some moisture but not a ton. Keep in my mind that my hair is super dry naturally so it takes a lot to restore moisture for me.

After washing and detangling I moved on to the hair butter. I did a flat twist out and a bantu knot at the end so it could give some curls. I really like this hair butter. I gave my hair definition, my hair felt fluffy and it helped to hold the style all day long. This was my favorite product in the pack. I have been using it on myself and my daughter.

Overall I think these products are really nice. So far I have really been enjoying these products. After using them for a few weeks I think that the only product that was a miss was the Detangling Conditioner, and that's because I don't feel as if it gives my hair much moisture and I really need that.
I really like the butter, it has helped take my styles up a notch by adding more definition. It also does not flake which is a huge plus for me!!! So I would definitely recommend this product.

HEATLESS CURLS | CURLFORMER ON 4C NATURAL HAIR

Hello beauties, today the topic is HAIR! If you didn't know I really don't like doing my hair. I am what some would consider a 4c natural hair lady. And the curl pattern (or lack thereof) throughout my head differs. With that and the fact that my hair is super full thick I just don't have the patience.
So while looking for easy natural hair styles on youtube I saw quite a few people using curlformers on their hair and I really wanted to try it myself.

Outre Annie Restyled

Hello friends, today I wanted to stop by and share with you how I restyle my Annie half wig from Outre. Don't you just hate it when your favorite hair or unit comes to an end?! Well I do. And if you find a bomb unit that is synthetic you know that it won't last long.

Annie has to be one of my all time favorite purchases for my hair and I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of it. Watch the video bellow to see how I saved this unit

THE GODDESS BRAID ON NATURAL HAIR

goddess braid natural hair

Much like everyone else I have been obsessed with the goddess braids. But what I really love about it is how it wraps around the head (which could also have the name of "halo braids"). This can be fairly simple to achieve if you have the braiding skills of a goddess....and I don't. So it took me a minute to get a hang of it.

I brought some hair to the front and left some in the back. I then began to braid it from the back towards the front. This is one of those things that it doesn't matter how many videos you watch, or blog posts you read, you'll just have to get to it and try it for yourself.

In the end it turns out to be an effortless hairstyle that anyone can rock at any time during the day or night. Well it's supposed to be effortless but if you're like me, it might take a little more to achieve it.

Natural Hair Chronicles: Annie Quick Weave by Outre

annie half wig outre natural hair

About 4 years ago I decided to go natural. I made the decision only after finding out that I was pregnant. In my mind I didn't want to expose my baby to all of the chemicals, At the time the natural hair "movement" was just starting. So I had little, but enough info on youtube to make my transition as smooth as possible!
I have been natural ever since. I've had my fair share of frustration with my hair, but overall my hair is the healthiest it has ever been. Not gonna lie, sometimes I miss the convenience and easy of permed hair but I know I would be really mad at myself if I went that route again. At least I'm not ready to go back to that right now.

With that being said being natural can make it a little bit more difficult to find protective styling that works with my hair texture without me having to straighten my hair,

NATURAL HAIR CHRONICLES: PROTECTIVE STYLING with OUTRE BATIK PERUVIAN HAIR

I don't make it a secret that I have a love and hate relationship with my hair. Mostly because taking care of natural, unprocessed hair can be a lot of work. Over the years since being fully natural, I have taken on protective styles to keep myself from manipulating my hair too much or even just going back to that creamy crack...lol

Natural Hair Chronicles: Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave In Conditioner

Let me tell you. I was so excited when I saw that Target was carrying some of the Carol's Daughter hair products in travel size. They were only a few bucks and the perfect size for me to give them a try. As a natural I have heard some amazing things about this product line but to be honest I could never bring myself to pay the full price for them. Even when they go on sale they are still expensive.

So today I'm here to share my experience with the Black Vanilla Leave in Conditioner from Carol's Daughter. To being with this conditioner smells amazing! I absolutely love the way my hair smells when I used it.

Protective Style with U Part Wig

I'm always looking for a good way to get my hair out of the way! But I also try to make sure that the style is actually protecting my hair and not further damaging it. I have found that the best way for me to grow out my hair and keep it strong is to get it out of the way. But with this method you have to be adamant about taking care of your "hidden" hair. Caring for your hair underneath your protective style is still extremely import.

So being that I love to change my hair often I decided to make a u part wig to change it up a little bit. There are tons of tutorials on youtube on how to create one, so I won't even try to explain the process in words. That would be super boring and confusing! BUT what did help me tremendously was getting a holder for the wig head. I got mine from amazon and I will link it below. This little thing saved me sooooo much time! I got my wig done in a couple of hours instead of a whole day! I would HIGHLY recommend getting one if you are thinking of making yourself a wig.

The holder get attached to your table and it goes inside of the styrofoam  wig head. It will hold the head in place and you can move the head up and down and you are moving it around sewing in the hair.

The reason I chose to go with a u part instead of a sew in, is that I want my hair to grow. And even though there are a lot of people that can do a good sew in, it becomes a different story when the goal is to keep the hair healthy. There can be a lot of tension from the braids and the sewing of the hair which in turn can cause a lot of breakage. So I opted for this style because I know how much tension to apply to my braids and I don't have this sewn in. I'm securing it with combs and pins. Making it a safer style.

Quick Protective Style With Marley Braiding Hair

Let's be honest. Taking care of our natural hair sometimes is no walk in the part. For me it can be very frustrating a lot of times. My hair is super thick, it shrinks like crazy and the kinky texture can be hard to manage if I don't set my hair the night before (no wash and go for me). With all of that being said I still love being natural. So I'm always searching for quick and easy ways to style my natural tresses.

Today I'm rocking a natural hair style using Marley hair! I'm so in love with this braiding hair. The texture is very similar to my hair when I have a braid out, so that allows me to blend my hair with the braiding hair in whatever way I'd like to.

So while looking on Pinterest, I've found many hairstyles that used Marley hair, and I fell in love with all of them. This one is super duper quick. All I did was add a few pieces of the braiding hair with my side braids. This gave me a lot more length and it made my boring side braids a lot more fun. I also added a hat to complement the look and hide some of the frizzy hairs I had going on.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but my hair got a lot of heat damage from wearing weaves for a little while, and with the humidity in MN, I had to straighten my hair a lot more often that I would have liked. And with with sew ins come really tight braids which also aided in the process of some of my hair breaking. Now I'm on a kick to get my hair BACK! It was longer and healthier (the back of my head is just fine) But the very front needs a lot of TLC. It's not horrible, it just looks like bangs but I have a vision for my natural hair and I'm working to get back on track!

I love this style. I kept my hair nicely tucked away and it was super quick. I did this in ten minutes. No heat required and I get to moisturize my hair while at it, with a lot of ease.

OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS (OCC) LIP TAR Nylon + Marley Hair Updo

OCC Lip Tar in Nylon - Pink Shade lip gloss

I've had this Nylon lip tar for a little while. And I just recently fell in love with it. These can take some getting used to. For me the hardest part was that I did not like the way this one smells. I swear they must have changed the formula because the newer ones don't have the same scent. I had no problem with Technopagan in terms of the way it smell. You can see that post here.

Either way this is such a cute color and I'm glad I kept it around. My camera did this lip tar no justice. It's so much brighter in person and it will definitely demand some attention (which I don't mid lol).

I would describe it as a hot pink...I mean SUPER HOT! The pigmentation is amazing off course and the staying power is great as well. My eyes were really simple but with some sparkle to make the look a little more fun.

For a little under twenty bucks this OCC lip tar is worth every penny. The consistency and pigment is so awesome that you only need to use a little bit. It will last for a very long time! Nylon will most definitely be a staple for me this summer and I'm excited to finally be putting it to good use.

Can I also add that I'm loving my new protective hair style!!!! I'm using Marley Braiding Hair for this style and it's super easy and convenient. I looked at tons of ideas on youtube and pinterest and this seemed easy enough to try. It keeps my ends tucked and protected. I also love the fact that using Marley hair still allows me to look like I'm rocking my natural hair because of the texture :)

The Best Twist Out EVER!

I'm not a huge fan of twist outs, and the main reason is because the times I've tried it didn't turn out good at all! And I was just looking a hot mess! Now that I've been natural for a while I know that products used make a huge difference on how a style will turn out and this time around I think I had the perfect combination of products.

The two products I used were Carol's Daughters Black Vanilla Leave In Conditioner (that's a really long name lol) and Kiehl's Strong Hold Styling Gel (for which I have a review here)

I simply parted my hair into sections, sprayed some water and added the above products and twisted my hair into two strand twists. I also added just a little bit more gel to the ends and I twirled it a little bit so my ends would have some type of definition. (and it looked something like this).

I didn't wear it down because my hair hair suffers from major shrinkage and if the style doesn't stretch my hair then I have to wear it up. Only because I don't like the way my hair looks if it's down but not in a style that's stretched. But as a puff it was GIVING ME LIFE HUNTY (lol)

Well there you have ladie sand gents. The best twist out your girl has ever experienced in her natural hair journey!

Simple Natural Updo Hair Style

As a natural girl styling my natural hair can quite honestly be a pain in the ass. I have extremely thick hair and it's course in some part and some what coily in others. So the best way for me to style my hair is to stretch it. And I love to stretch my hair by braiding it. So for this style my hair had been stretched with braids.

And this is such a simple way of doing my hair. All I did was leave a portion of hair out in the front and I put the rest into a pony and pinned the pony to look like a bun. I then twisted the section that was left out and voilà!

I also used my favorite edge control product for this hair style which is Curl Passion Fruit Control Paste. This little paste is the TRUTH!!!! If you are natural you need to have this!

This is a low manipulation style and also protective because your hair is out of the way.

If you are natural (or not) what is your go to hairstyle?

Box Braids as a protective Style

box braids as a protective style

I did it! I couldn't take dealing with my hair anymore. Now don't get me wrong, I love my natural hair. I love the texture and all of the fun things that I get to do with it. But sometimes dealing with natural hair is a lot of freaking work. Box braids were the best option for me right now.

Lately I just end up doing two side braids and call it a day. My natural was really doing great, but then I started to wear sew ins. Now let me back track and say that one of the reasons I went natural was because I didn't take great care of my hair when I permed and straightened my hair. Forward back to last year, I began to fall in love with weaving weaves again! However I was not taking ANY care of my leave out, and as you can guess it broke off. Yikes!

Styling Natural Hair with Kiehl's Stylist Series: Strong Hold Gel

I'm super excited to share this product with you. I have recently become a Kiehl's lover. To me Kiehl's was more of a skincare brand. I never thought I would be able to find a hair product that would work for my natural hair, much less a hair product that I would fall in love with. Well I was wrong!

I got a small sample of this gel and just had to go back to buy one! It retails for $16, which is pretty pricey for freaking hair gel but it WORKS! For the most part I have not yet found a product that would give me good hold and definition for when I do twist outs or other styles. This gel just does that for me.

Never have I ever experienced this much definition before. I used perm rods on a flat twist out and I was extremely happy with my results!

I also used it for my side braid style that I had on this post here. So far I'm really happy with this gel. The only downfall is that I seem to need to moisturize or add some type of oil to my hair after using it because it looks a little dry. Which is probably my fault because the times I've used it, I added no other product, and I should probably pair it with an oil for some moisture.

what is your favorite product to add definition to your styles?
