Red Lipstick & Champagne Dreams: Ipsy December Bag

Ipsy December Bag

ipsy december bag 2014

Well so this post is just a lit late...my bad! But I thought I'd share my December Ipsy bag with you guys anyways. With the exemption of the hair product I was pleasantly surprised with the products for the month. For those of you who are not familiar with this program, Ipsy is a monthly subscription for beauty products, where you pay $10 (in the US) and receive a bag full of goodies for the month. The makeup bags change every month, so your collection is going to grow f.i.y.

Sometimes you get sample sizes and sometimes (like this month for instance) you get some full sized products. It's only ten bucks so I figured I would give it a try. I have been subscribed for three months and I would say this was probably the best month so far.

In this month's ipsy bag, I received 5 products total. Four were makeup related and the fifth was a hair product.

1. Coolway Boost Repair System
2. Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet brush
3. NYX Butter Lip Balm
4. Pixy by Petra Fairy Dust
5. Tarte Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara

I really like this Crown Brush. The bristles are soft which allowed me to deposit color and blend it as well (even though I still used my beloved MAC 217 brush to blend) and the crease side also worked really well. I guess this this is your standard makeup brush. I personally never purchase double sided brushes because I don't want any sides to get ruined when I put it away. But if you are the type of girl that likes to bring makeup and a brushe with you to touch up during the day, then I would say this is a good option. I usually only bring with me whatever I used on my lips.

The NYX lip balm is super nice and very moisturizing. It leaves a small amount of color on the lips, so I guess you could consider it a tinted lip balm. It smells and tastes really good and I would definitely purchase this item on my own.

The fairy dust is so pretty!!!! It's shimmery and the texture is very soft, making it really easy to use and blend. However I'm not a huge fan of the applicator, so I take some out of the container and I use my regular brushes with it.

The Tarte mascara was ok. I'm actually not a mascara lover to begin with, so in order for a mascara to wow me it needs to be pretty amazing. This mascara gave me soft, natural lashes. It separated my lashes really well and it did not clump, and these are great attributes. For me I would have liked to see it give my lashes a little more length.

This month's ipsy bag winner is the NYX butter lip balm. I have been sick since last week and as a result my lips have suffered greatly. But
this little guy has brought my lips back to LIFE!!!!! Extremely moisturizing and long lasting. I think it's a must have in my bag, because I just can't create beautiful looks with chapped lips lol

Have you tried any of these products before? Are you a member of ipsy or another bag/box subscription?

  1. I've gotten the double sided crown brush in a past bag, and IMO the "crease" side of the brush really works best as a pencil brush because of its size and density. Also, it's funny you say youre not a mascara person, because I am the complete opposite! Mascara is my desert island must-have lol.

    1. lmao I guess my lashes are not great to begin with and I just haven't found a mascara that reeeeaaly works.l If you have a good one you love let me know, I want to try something different from what I'm doing. And I'm going to try the brush that way :)
